I find the man unwatchable and more important unlistenable, his slow and laboured diction makes him sound at least boring but on average he simply sounds clumsily amateurish. He has no on-screen charisma at all, Im sorry but If I see his name on the credits of a documentary it is a reason not to watch.

I do not dislike him personally but I do feel Animal Planet could do a lot better than Mr. Marvins boring "maths teacher" style of presenting.

He does come over as a bit school-teacherish; I know what you mean. But I don’t think he’s that bad. I quite enjoyed him on; I think it was called ‘Walking with Dinosaurs’. That series when he went back in time.

Some of that was a bit silly to say the least. I think in reality he would have been a dino-snack a few times over. But if you ‘suspended disbelief’ I think it was entertaining.

Let’s not be too hard on the guy, I’m sure in person he’s okay. Who wouldn’t want to work with him? I know I would!
