Hi Everyone,
Just watched an Episode of the above regarding the Duke of Wellington, and something bugs me. Every time I see a program about Arthur Wellesly all I hear is Waterloo this and Napolean that. That was one battle which lasted one day. Wellington had a long career and we never hear about it. Don't get me wrong, It was a good program, and with that great military historian ( although I forget his name... If anyone knows it, please let me know.) It only really covered 1 year in the penisula war and the battle at Waterloo... (Again, from what I've read, it should be called the Battle of the Belle Alliance as that was where the dispatch regarding the battle was written... Correct me if I'm wrong I'd love to see a program that looks at Wellingtons' earlier career in Flanders, India, and the Penisula war after he took over from the late Sir John Moore in the Penisula. If any histrocial military program directors or producers read this, then please explore the rich possibilities of Wellesley's early military blunders and successes. If you have any comments or abosolutely anything to add, please do so. |
