Here it the latest update from the Kalahari. The crews have been very busy. It's very hot in the desert filming the members of the Whiskers family for season 3, which you will see this summer. There’s lots of action and intrigue and a new group of meerkats called the Starkies are playing a bigger role in the Whiskers lives. I can't tell you too much more about them, but just like the Lazuli they are becoming more of a threat, as the Whiskers are forced to search outside their territory to find food for themselves and their family. We also continue to film Meerkat Manor: Queen of the Kalahari, the feature film based on the Meerkat Manor television series. I wanted to let you, our most loyal fans, know some sad news about Flower. Like her brave son Shakespeare, Flower was bitten by a poisonous snake and succumbed to her injuries. She was simply not strong enough to live through the attack. Flower's life and reign were longer than most and she will always be one of my favorite meerkats. I know she will be missed by everyone. All of this will unfold in the next season, and we will see who becomes the next leader of the Whiskers as life continues in the Kalahari.

This day our hearts were sadden
by some news we didn't
want to hear
The loss our sweet Flower
our precious little dear

A lady who stood
tall and proud
A lady who kept her family
safe and sound

The coming days won't seem right
Zaphod won't have his Flower
to cuddle up to
at night

A large family of Meerkats she raised
must continue on
knowing that their dear mother
is now gone

We will never forget this matriarch
who's leadership was strong
who wanted to do right
and not do any wrong

Right from the start
and from moment we first saw you
we all fell in love
this we know is true

Our eyes are now filled with tears
as we've cried and cried
it hard for us
to say goodbye

After watching Meerkat Manor
for almost a year
we heard some news
we didn't want to hear

Flower whom we all loved
whose life we hoped
would go on
is sadly now gone

As a leader she was good
she was the dominant female
this was understood

A time to die for humans
is an appointed day
maybe for animals
it's the same way

To have known Flower
we are so glad
to lose her
makes our hearts sad

Let us remember
all the good things she did
like raising those
adorable little kids

The Whiskers couldn't have had
a leader much better
Flower was true
in person I wish I could have met her

It feels like we lost
a lifetime friend
and never wanted
to see her life end

I am devistated, I have tears streaming down my face, what a shock, poor, poor flower. My heart goes out to all who knew her & her Meerkat Family. 'What a Loss' My husband & I have only just started watching this series & we both fell in love with Flower. A Valliant Lady Leader Meerkat to the end. We will miss her so much. Hope Flower has lots fun in Meerkat Heaven & looks down on her family with pride, which Flower fully deserves. God Bless her. PS I hve to tell my Husband now, he also will be so upset.

At least they told us what happened to Flower.
That is all they told us. They haven't posted any other things about season 3. I am sure they will be other surprises.

I have just got hooked on Meerkat Manor the BBC UK, are showing it, on sat and sun, i've watched all season 1, (United We Stand) was on yesturday. I am so sorry to hear about Flower! she is/was a great leader! "RIP Flower".

I have watched Meerkat Manor every Friday night even when I was in the hospital receiving my bone marrow transplant. If I couldn't have seen it my husband was going to tape it for me. I even had my nurses coming by to watch it with me. I am saddened to hear about Flowers death but liked that the series will go on without her. This show started my watching Animal Planet every night. When I am allowed out to go to zoos, I will be going to the Atlanta zoo to see the Panda and the Meerkats.

LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!

.Shakespeare, Flower and Zaphod's courageous son. He survived two bites of a puff adder snake, but has disappeared after successfully saving Flower's pups from an attack by Big Cy, the dominant male of the Whiskers' rivals, the Lazuli. He was practically killed but he has somehow survived the attack will appear anytime in season 3 to reunite with his family.

I see that is on the wikipedia. "Young Pups" like to post things on there that are not true.
Be aware of that when on that site.
Shakespeare could be alive, but it was not him at the burrow defending the pups the day the Lazuli came calling. According to the researchers, Shakespeare was babysitting the day before the Lazuli came. Male meerkats do not babysit two days in a row. The meerkat at the burrow that day was an unknown female.

Yes, I think most of us have heard that now. Although if you combine that with the rumor a meerkat exactly like Shakespeare has been seen as dom-m of a group outside the study area. Lets just say things seem slightly more hopeful

Hi, I´m new here, but I was watching Meerkat Manor on Animal Planet all the time and I really love this show.. now I heard the sad news too and I´m devastated I loved Flower, it´s such a big loss. This little animal had no idea of how many people loved and watched her on TV.. I think it will be hard for all of us meerkat fans to watch the episode where she dies Rest in peace sweetie..we will miss u a lot

flowermeerkat, I think you summed up what most of us think about Flower. Meerkat Manor series 3 (and hopefuly 4) just wont be the same without the queen of the kalahari.
