male v male id have to say I think the african lion would have the edge, female v female the tiger shold have it. The design of a tiger is the best solo hunter, The desgin of a male lion is not focused on hunting, its for battleing other lions. The femals do most of the hunting but they are mainly all sisters in a familly hunting together, not like the terittorial tiger where mother and daughter will fight. The male Lions edge, other then his charictor is his main, this helps prevent other lions from gaining the leathel neck bite. In the 2 cases I have seen documented, where very cruel owners have effectivly caged them together insight of this myth, a lioness was getting a pounding (I dont know if she was african) but still fighting back well, the other, a male tiger was killed after making the first move on a male lion he could not get the neck bite from jumping on the lions back, he was brought down and then biten in the neck. Im very sad that they made them do this, and in both cases ur looking at a cage with no reel space. I also think it would have to depend on the lion or the tiger, there are many differnces in there skills and agressivness, as well as how much experiance.... which if u look at it, the top of all tigers wont have fought half as many battles as the top lion (cat v cat), sry for the spelling ! the King has long long hair around his neck.

The Tiger, without a doubt is the true king of the jungle.
The Lion is lord of the land.

its a fact that the tiger would win in a 1 to 1 fight ,its is bigger by a good few feet and is 50lbs to 80lbs heavier, david attenbourogh said a tiger would win easily, though they dont meet, years ago they shared the same territory in the bottom of africa, hope this helps! i must admit i love the 2 animals!

From what I’ve seen of male lions, lounging about, waiting for the ladies to kill his dinner, he would be completely out of shape, the equivalent of a couch potato. He’d be toast against the super-fit tiger.

If there was lion type cans of beer and TV he would be sat back belching all day and complaining there wasn’t enough Wildebeest racing on and loosing the remote control down that back of the settee.

Who’d be a lioness?

It is a well-known fact that social animals are more intelligent than those that live alone - ergo, lions are smarter than tigers. Though probably not by much, since the two species are closely related.

As to who would win in a lion vs. tiger fight, it would depend entirely upon the age, sex, health and disposition of the individuals involved. There are numerous records of fights between the two, some where the lion wins, some where the tiger does. Basically, it could go either way.
