I would like to learn more about fireflies around the world.

I remember a TV film from Japan some years ago that showed fireflies glowing in the dark, but to my understanding the film was not in colour but taken with a night vision camera, that is everything appeared in green colour. The light from fireflies is very weak, although it might appear bright in the dark, which may explain the lack of colours.

I have heard that a team from the BBC some years ago went to Costa Rica to try to film Pyrophorus in colour, the most powerful of all fireflies (this insect is not the common Lampyridae with about 1900 species but an Elateridae, of which only this genus is glowing), but to my knowledge no film was sent on TV. Maybe it isn't possible to film the weak light from fireflies in colour, not even the bright Pyrophorus, which also has got the unique ability to expand its light to about 2.5 cm width by reflecting the light in the wings.

Any news about upcoming firelfly TV events?
