If you have a look at Monkeyworld dotorg the opening page gives the details. He passed away a relatively short time after being diagnosed. It's so very sad and an enormous loss to the world of wildlife conservation.

jim and alson were in OZ doing some ground scouting and he became unwell visited docs after tests found he had terminal liver cancer and so he went via NY to come home but became to unwell to make it home
