Jim will be greatly missed.
he brought the plight of beach chimps to the public eye and made a home for them and helped educate the young and old

let us not forget his message and help stop the trade in our closest relatives

My heart and thoughts go out to Jims family

I was so shocked and saddened to hear that Jim had passed away. He was a wonderful unassuming man, who along with Alison and many others highlighted the plight of primates around the world.

I have visited Monkey World, and we have adopted 2 Chimps and 1 Orangutan.

My heart goes out to Alison, family and colleagues.

One thing I am disappointed with is the lack of coverage in the media following Jim's passing. And also I have to say that despite Animal Planet putting a tribute on their website, there is no obituary on the end credits of 'Monkey Business.

Bless you Jim.

Such a sad loss and so terribly premature. My thoughts are with Alison and his friends and collegues.I'm sure history will acknowlegde their work as truely enlightened.I whole heartedly agree that there ought to be a tribute on animal planet.Jim's gentle charm and enthusiasum made so much of Monkey World's work accessible and understandable to a wider world. We are poorer for his absense.

WHY? WHY? WHY?

I can't believe this terrible news. I had no idea this had happened until now. What a terribe loss, another one of the greats gone. Jim was to the monkey world what Steve Irwin was to the Croc world. A truly terrible loss.

My heart goes out to his family and I hope they have the strength to carry on his cause without him.

It is really sad to know that Jim is now lost to us. We were in the park a few short hours after he died and we didn't know.

This site

http://www.thetad.net/jimcronin.htm

has a good tribute page for Jim, and it contains lots of links to worldwide obituaries and articles about him.

Ilcolello, thank you for posting this. I think we have all had difficulty finding anything the last few days. He indeed was a very special person and will be missed. But I do believe that he too has laid that path that so many will follow. His love and dedication has touched millions and he has made a difference that will last for all time.

The world was a better place with someone like Jim in it. More than anything my sympathies go out to Alison and all their family and friends. At the same time I mourn for what we have all lost and I think the animal world, and the planet, has lost a great champion in this amazing man.

I will be making a donation to the Jim Cronin Memorial Fund at Monkey World because this man's legacy must continue.
