christine, it's confusing as to why this forum isn't busier. I know Jim had thousands of fans... rest assured, you're not the only one here that cares. I also care so much. I still can't believe Jim is no longer with us. I wish I had more time to contribute to this forum and also the Steve Irwin forum. I pop on when I can which isn't too often and is always a rush. Jim's death was such a shock to me and losing him and Steve in such a short space of time was just too much. As long as people like us remember them and do all we can to help conservation, they won't have died in vain. There are some great people here who REALLY care.
RIP JIM & STEVE |

When Jim died I didn't find out until two weeks later. I was shocked and angry that Jim didn't receive the same amount of recognition and commemoration for his work that Steve Irwin received (and both of these people deserved it).
I was shocked that nothing of this news had been broadcast on the national news services. I searched Sky News and found nothing. I searched the BBC, but found one article in the local news. Only two national newspapers had articles in the obituaries section. All other news was in the local media of Dorset and his hometown of New York, where he died. It’s times like this that I am disgusted with the world’s media. It seems that they can find an abundance of time and space to write tons of drivel about talentless wanabee celebrities appearing on so-called reality TV shows, but when it comes to real people who have worked hard, achieved more in one day than these people will ever do in their entire lives, and made a huge difference to the world, they get relegated to the back page, if that! Jim Cronin was a great man, whose tireless work helped change the lives of many of our closest relatives who have suffered abuse and mistreatment at the hands of their captives. His and the wonderful staff at Monkey World's endless campaigning and undercover work has helped put a stop to beach photographers using chimps as props in Spain and Turkey, and helped expose the cruel and barbaric primate trade in Africa and Asia, and this is just for starters. The list of Jim's achievements is endless. Like Steve Irwin, Jim was a great man whose life was needlessly cut short. I am always deeply saddened that people like this, with so much to give, always die so young. But Jim Cronin’s legacy will continue through Monkey World, his wife Alison and the thousands of people he inspired around the world. Thousands of primates owe Jim a debt of gratitude for saving them from the hands of the evil people of this world. I'm sure that the many people in this world that knew Jim or knew of his work will be thinking of him now. I'm currently watching the latest series of Monkey Life here in Slovenia, the last to feature Jim, and can't help feeling that the primates in Monkey World are also missing him terribly. RIP Jim Cronin! |

What a man eh! I am new to Monkey business/ life, and have been watching avidly since christmas day last year. I think that Jim has achieved so much in his life, and there is a very large gap been left. He has done so much with Alison, and he so deserved his MBE, sadly of which he didn't recieve in person. You can see on the programmes the love that he has for every single animal he has rescued and the passion he has for these wonderful primates. I am a chimp fan but love all the others as well, toothless Charlie being my favourite, and Seamus cos he's a little rogue. Please continue to show these programmes I never tire of seeing them and they make me laugh with the antics of these cheeky monkey's.
Keep up the good work Alison, Jeremy, Mike and everyone else at Monkey world. You should all have awards for all the hard work you put in. Hoping for a visit this summer, and an early b/day pressie of an adoption. Not got a b/day till Oct, but I am hoping I may have two! At least the contributers of this topic are remembering Jim and as long as he is remembered, the news can carry on reporting, their tactless dribble. Best wishes to all. Jackie |

Just because it never made the news doesnt mean no one cares. The important thing is we remember the great personalities both Jim and Steve were and the work they did to protect the animals they loved and cherished. Death is inevitable, we will all die so lets not dwell on their death but on their life. They are not gone, they will never be forgotten. The sting of death cannot take them away from us. Lets remember what they lived for, what gave them so, so, so much pleasure and lets continue to support the good world they opened our eyes to. Light a candle, have a mass said, say a few prayers but please continue to support both MonkeyWorld, WildlIfe Warriors and all the Jims and Steves of the world. That is how they would want to be remembered.
