On Wed 11th @ 19:00 I recorded 'Whats that about' on Discovery Science via Sky on my Panasonic HDD recorder only to find that the recording was only 10 seconds long. Thought it was operator error at first but when I tried to record the programme the following day at the same time the same thing happened, only this time I caught it in the act. The recorder started to record but after about 20 seconds or so a 'Cannot copy copy protected material' message appeared on the screen and the recorder stopped recording. Tried other channels Sky 1, movie channel and it recorded OK. Anyone else having similar problems ?

EXACTLY the same thing happened to me too this morning (16th) when I tried to record the end of mythbusters as I was late for work and didnt want to miss the end. I have a SAMSUNG DVD recorder HR730. I have communal cable satellite TV and no separate set-top box.

According to the user manual you may be able to record once to rewritable media - unless the programme was broadcasted with full restrictions.

never knew such a thing existed... I am hoping it is only the discovery channels doing this for the moment.....
