I watched the episode about pilkington how they make glas. They interviewed a guy working at pilkington and he said" glas is a running fluid, if you watch a window after 20 years its thicker at the bottom" After that the speaker kept on repeating this bogeus and wide spread myth.
Old windows is often thicker at bottom since the manufacturing could not make a even product then they put it in with thick side down causing the glas to hold better. Glas is an amorf substance and yes it can run some in a geological perspective. But LEAD is then running much faster. And glas will form crystals and go back to clay much faster than it would change shape. Have you ever seen an old glas jar run? It is very rare to find glas in geological layers cause glas is breaking down after some million years not floating out like a fluid. I lost my respect for "How do they do it" and then checked 6 other episodes and guess what. I found 12 directly missinforming statements that had nothing to do with fact. well well |
