Please don't get me wrong I love the Discovery channels, (its the reason I chose cable TV in the first place along with the History channel) but I had to come in here to tell the people at discovery channel that Im totally disappointed by their new 'Discovery Turbo' channel and the fact that my favorite 'Discovery Wings' is gone!
(My cable provider may have dropped Disc-Wings or it may have ceased broadcasting, I'm not sure, -is it gone for good?- either way I seem to have lost a good channel and gained nothing!) The reason Im so unhappy though is the programs you decided to show in the opening few days of the "NEW" Turbo channel! I mean not only were we treated to another torrent of repeated programs like overhaulin, wheeler dealers, the Garage and Mark williams on rails but they were also still being shown on the normal Discovery channel AND shown in a back to back manner that not even a total fan of these shows can enjoy. I mean I can maybe watch 2 programs of the same subject or series in a row but after that no one in their right mind wants to watch more straight away. Has no one heard of the word Alternate? :P I mean lets take Overhaulin. I like the show (in a sort of masochistic way), but I have never seen as miserable or more workshy a workforce in my life! haha, it does make good TV because love it or hate it, TV people watching is strangely addictive and fascinating but its the sort of TV show you like to catch a SINGLE episode of not half a dozen together. Not unless you want to record the entire series to a tape or something . Why would you when its shown on all the other channels and repeated constantly anyhow? 'The garage' is similar to Overhaulin, an ok show, although personally I find it a bit mundane to be honest. Others may love it but do you want to watch it for 3 hours?? of course not!. Both of these shows are basically copying the award winning (fantastic) 'American Chopper' series, which I would rate as one of my favorite Discovery shows, its just, again, that I don't want to see them all at once even if it is last years series. I know this wont make a difference, or at least I suspect it wont, but I thought I needed to air my dismay as a paying customer at the current, and it seems future trend of rehashing the same material or endlessly repeating episodes of the same shows(even on other channels). Please can you give us more content that we have'nt seen in at least half a year or more? I realise theres budget limits but surely theres mountains of archives out there? Films of rare classic races, famous cars or famous driver interviews, anything thats never or rarely been seen before. If it cant happen then PLEASE at least, if you ARE going to play Overhaulin and mark williams and all the others only then at least alternate them!? so we can watch a variety of shows. It cant be that hard to get rid of this sort of listing: 18:20 The Garage (episode 1) 19:00 The garage (episode 2) 19:40 Overhaulin (1) 20:00 Overhaulin (2) 20:40 Mark Williams on Rails (1) 21:20 Mark Williams on Rails (2) etc and make it: 18:20 The garage (1) 19:00 Mark Williams on Rails (1) 19:40 Overhaulin (1) 20:00 The Garage (2) 20:40 Mark Williams on Rails (2) 21:20 Overhaulin (2) this is overly simplified but the point is the days shedule is still filled but the average guy gets a more variety for the short time he watches that channel. Discovery turbo was billed as UNMISSABLE for any one who loves engines yet at the moment it appears to be showing exctly the same shows as the normal Discovery channl. I feel cheated. Essex UK |

I have to agree with you. Discovery Wings was one of my favourites on Sky.
What has Turbo got to do with wings? Nothing - it's rubbish. I would like to know why Discovery has completely changed this channel. They have lost this viewer. David |
