Just got off the phone to Discovery. Very helpfl young lady who took my phone number. She told me that all calls and emails were being referred to Head Office. So keep phoning, emailing etc. She also said that Discovery have never had so many requests to reinstate a channel as they have received for Discovery Kids. Maybe we will see it back on our screens soon. I also made the point that some of the "suitable" programmes are sandwiched between unsuitable ones. Discovery from 4.00 to 6. Only one really suitable and that is Ultimate Guinnes Records but those before and afterwards are not suitable.
Animal Planet does not fare much better because from 3.00 4.30 it is ok and then you get Animal Cops Houston (not exactly what you might want some children to experience) followed by Little Zoo (which they could watch!!!) Turbo is even worse with nothing at all from 4.00p,m. to 6.00p.m. So you are left with the situation that you just keep popping in to see if it is OK for your little ones to watch. I don't think so. At least with DK you could let them watch safe in the knowledge that it was OK.

As you can see I feel very strongly about the lack of it being on TV.

The Patent Office and Wallace & Gromit are running a project to encourage young inventers and get children interested in Science and this will help young children to think creatively about innovation. There is a need for this type of programming. Please Discovery wall to wall cartoons are not robust childrens programmes, give our children a future!

I am so disappointed, My son who is 9 got 95% in his Science test all because of how discovery kids have made the world of science so interesting. My 6yr old daughter sits with her brother and they discuss the programs and how they do stuff. What other channel can do that? Who's stupid idea was it to take it off the TV. Some over paid moron who's thinking about his own pay packet!!
The children viewers of today are Adult viewers of tomorrow. And what better way than to start them young. I'm going to phone, write and pester just like the rest of you!!!

I am SO glad to find that other people are shocked at this decision. All my 3 girls *adored* discovery kids and couldn't believe it had just gone.

Another unhappy Mum. My daughter (6) is a huge fan, she really missing Discovery Kids. Thanks for the contact details. Hubby emailed Sky a month ago but has not had a reply.

I am still waiting for a reply to my second email to Discovery. I asked them to let me know how many complaints they had received but as yet no answer. All I can say is please those of you with children get it onto your schools newsletter and ask them to email, phone, write and join in the poll. As a large supermarket says "Every Little Helps". Maybe people do not know there is a forum for this or have the details of the number to ring. I am going to ask my school to put it in their newsletter. My daughters teacher is the Science Co-ordinator!!

Just noticed that Discovery Kids has receive 2500 viewings. When you view please fill in the on line poll, email discovery, ring or snail mail. All details can be found on the forum. We need to keep the pressure up. We all want this channel back on our screens where it belongs.

Discovery is asking for panalists to tell them about the programmes is this the same company who are not listening to us. Discovery Kids still available to everybody else.

I have emailed, writen to, rung and filled in the views suggestions on the wed site twice with no reply to any.

I am amazed at the attitude of the Discovery channel.

Please will everyone keep up the fight.

How do you get to be a panalist?

What are they playing at? My "children" are in their 20's now-I'm in my 40's, but I can't believr the short-sighted attitude that Dicovery are displaying by not broadcasting Discovery Kids! I've emailed them telling them that they need to take their responsibilities a lot more seriously. The "kids" that are not economically viable are going to be the decision-makers one day, deciding on issues that affect the whole planet. We ALL have a responsibility to educate them, and it's in our best interests to do just that! They'll be the pioneers who mend our old and worn-out bodies, the ones who make life and death decisions affecting millions. Please Discovery' LISTEN TO WHAT YOUR VIEWERS AND THEIR REPRESENTATIVES HAVE TO SAY!

My blood's boiling now! Does anyone know how to become a panellist, or to make ANY difference at all? I don't have little ones, they're big ones now, and I'm not involved in child-care or education, but I have eyes and common-sense. Robust programming! What a load of utter TRIPE! We're educating the next generation on a diet of plasticized rubbish. Don't stop complaining until someone listens!

just discovered this topic. I was so annoyed when they cancelled Discovery Kids, especially as they still have it in the Us and Canada.

you can now watch many of Discovery Kids programmes on D-Max (Sky channel 144). They are showing Dr Dog, Mystery Hunters, Timeblazers, etc.They do start early, though(ie 6am).
