The highlight of last night's hideous opener was the personality-free zone that is Louis Molloy claiming the inspiration for Beckham's 'Christ' tattoo was all his own.

Nothing to do with Mick Furbank's 'Crucified Skin' then, first developed for the 'Last Resort' skinhead shop in the late 70's, and since then a beloved image of the hardcore gay skinhead scene.....

As for the series of inky blobs that Dan Gold laid on that bemused looking couple, words fail me.

I have to agree, there was little talent being shown last night, i wouldnt let these people tattoo a dog let alone real people

shoddy linework, shading, artistic concepts etc etc makes you wonder how much tatooing these people have done before, never mind there is only 1 londoner in the whole crew and he is better off painting walls

i feel sorry for the poor customers (inc the 9th prettiest girl in the world) who will have to bear their practice/attempts for the rest of their lives, for shame

did Discovery actually research these jokers ? why not go to a tattoo exhibition and find out who is the best and film them not some scally northerner whos only claim to fame seems to be inking Beckham with as you say a skinhead ripoff design

these guys make Miami Ink seem like Picasso in comparison, Ami and the MI crew are no doubt laughing if this is the best in tattoo art the UK has to offer.

I've just watched London Ink for the 1st time and yep all they seemed to go on about was THAT tattoo, I've had 3 tat's done by Louis about 10-15 year ago before he became too stuck up his own behind and have noticed a difference in him since he did Beckham's apparentley he has a 6 month waiting list now but in my opinion don't bother there's other artist out there that are as good if not better and actually talk and tattoo you like a normal person. It would've been wiser calling the show The Louis Molloy School of Sarcism

Its funny everyone wants to stick the boot into Lou but I was a total stranger that contacted him about a piece I wanted for me and my Daughter. After a few emails - 2 weeks later we had the 1st drawing? Funny that for someone up their own arse! Eeker

No offence Let but just hazarding a guess I don't spose you and your daughter happen to have a tat of a mermaid on your leg do you? Lets see how 'helpful' good old Lou is in say 5 years time when you want another tat doing and he's not doing a tv show. Like I said I've had work done by him and yeah he is good I'm not denying that but what I am saying is he thinks he's the best out there and he ain't. I went into his shop about 2 year back for a tat I wanted after eventually catching his attention I told him what I was after and was lookin for some ideas to which he literally just threw the flash books to me and said 'look through them' and walked off. Also the guy knows my sister they used to go school together and like I said I've got 3 of his tat's but quite frankly I won't be getting anymore

I think what the show lacks is humourous staff, everyone looks so serious, except dan, the girl tattooists is up her own, with a bad attitude. There is no way i would get a tatt from her.

When Louis told Dan to be quiet and concentrate on his art work,i found that fairly unusual because most tattooists do concentrate, but also like to find out about their clients and build a rapport. To sit for hours and not speak would be so boring. Maybe Louis can't concentrate when chatting to clients, now there's a thought?
Lighten up guys, have some fun with your clients, and get the editing done, it would be much improved.

Roll Eyes
plenty other artists were asked but only louis couldn't give a toss what anybody else thought about it and has the foresight to see the revenue that this will generate for him. he'll be living off this till he packs up!
