I wouldn't call myself a hardcore
but i love tattoo's i am not into the magazines and have never been to a convention but would love to.

But after years of people with tattoo's being treated like freaks we turn on each other.
Think back to why you had your tattoo's done
on sites like this we slag off each others work and artists

my tattoo's some great some not so good but i wouldn't change a single one as they are part of who i am today and the remind me of different times in my life.
I have found with shows like miami ink that we are now becoming judgmental to each other

and i hate the intimidation factor that come from people who claim to be better as they know more about tattoos

we are becoming as bad as the people who use to treat us like freaks

well thats my rant over sorry

All my tatts tell a story too, but even now iam being told at work, its ok to have them but bandage them up? Where i work in a care home my residents love them and call me the tattoo lady. I want a full sleeve done, but i am not allowed, at my age you would think being frowned upon would stay in the ark ages, but no, the stigma is still there. I like Miami Ink and all their stories, they are not always sad, happy ones as well, my theory is, at least having a story attached to why they are having a tattoo in the first place signifies, the client has thought about it.

i work in a school and i let people get to know me then slowly show off my tats but all in all i have never been judged

i am planning a full back tattoo but i think that might stay hidden at work

but i love the stories behind tattoo's

why should they be pretty for other people i have a koi on my upper arm and all i get is why would you have a fish put on your arm but it means something to me

i love miami ink and i am warming to london ink

but its the people on chat rooms and forums who slate each others work that gets me

i have a crappy blue rose on my wrist but i would cover it as it reminds me of a time in my life

My back is dedicated to Egyptian gods/goddesses, Sphinx, Ankh's etc, i want the middle of my back to possibly be a large tree of life, or Cleopatra head with a cobra coming out of the top of it. David Beckhams tattoo of his wings got me thinking of wings for my shoulders and back, thats where my Isis comes in, all the wings and hours of work are placed across the top of my back. I love Egypt and have been there a lot of times, all the locals are beginning to know me know, and see what instalment i have done next. I have the Ankh on my neck.

hey,its really nice to see a grown up conversation. everyone else is more interested in slagging each other off!
i have 6 tattoos, and i sometimes find myself hiding that because of the way people react. apparently im the sort of person who looks like they shouldnt have a tattoo?? whatever that means.
each one i have represents a different part of my life and im proud of them all.
i have one on my wrist and i find it a great talking point with people, they always say how nice it is etc. im thinking of having one on my other wrist but i dont want to look like im matching?!
anyway, thanks for writing something positive
take care x

well put dizzy and isis.
Isis, id love to see your back, i have the eye of ra on my wrist, and will be building on that with a full egyptian sleeve im thinking. Is yours in color or black and grey?
Im pretty lucky with my work, I already have on full sleeve, and will be soon getting the other one done, and the are pretty awesome about it, not sure if its the aussie attitude, but most seem to be pretty laid back! but i did say most, not all!

Hi
I understand that a lot of people choose things because of a meaning or for symbolism, yet i still really like the idea of getting something in the moment. I *know* that there are thousands (possibly millions) who have tattoos that they now hate, but hey, its only skin eh!?!

My tattoo is colour and took 4 sittings to complete, i had mine done because i love Egypt, but i do have others, a remembrance arm at the top, i have 'animal' of the muppets in remembrance of my dad who died a few weeks ago, and also a teddy bear with a rainbow going around it and clouds in remembrance of my 11 year old son who died 5 years ago in his sleep.
I have a butterfly at the top of my leg on the spur of the moment and regret it, and as i said i have my Isis with wings, an ankh on my neck, a sphinx on the lower back, all across my spine, and the eye of Ra at the top of my back. I am having the eye of Ra on my wrist tomorrow, i like meaningful symbols especially of health, love and protection.

thank you for your nice think comments

I think that you should go with the flow if you see something you like get it if you not sure think about it take some time to think it over but never regret it there are bigger worries in the world other than is the devil on your ankle that you got when you were 18 is a bit **** (just an example) life is too short and hey you can always cover it

so keep getting tatts don't listen to haters and as long as YOU like it who care what others think

Well i had my wrist done with the eye of Ra, then i decided to have an ankh on the other wrist as it didnt hurt at all. A bit swollen at the minute and i am always catching it. I havent been to work yet with them, so i am expecting the rubbish spouting. They are placed on the inside of my wrist, not on the front. my tattoo shop charged me £25 total for them both.

sounds fab and £25 thats cheap

i have designed a symbol that represents my and my husband its a star knot with a circle interwinned and the words you complete me
and i am planning on having that on the underside of my wrist

i had my conch(the shell bit of your ear) pierced the other week and i have decided that i would rather have 2 hrs of tattooing than a 5 min piercing i do love it though
