If the HINDENBURG had been filled with helium instead of hydrogen, the Hindenburg would NOT have ignited! It is a fact that the radio antenna that ripped through the Hindenburg and SCRAPED the interior metal structure causing sparks lit up the derigible. If it had been filled with HELIUM instead of HYDROGEN this EXPLOSION/IGNITION would not have happened. Does anybody have any real evidence proving or disproving this myth? I would like to see the mythBusters do a full scale recreation.

Good idea, but (just an idea) even if it had not ignited would'nt the tear in the structure become larger, releasing the contained gas, and make it drop out the sky killing everybody anyway?

If you classifying this as a myth, shouldn't you have posted it in the Mythbusters forum?
