Irwin's daughter follows the crocodile

A year and a half ago, Bindi Irwin was an 8-year-old growing up in the Australian outback, home-schooled so she could travel with her father, Steve Irwin, to film popular nature shows like "The Crocodile Hunter." She sometimes appeared on camera, happily petting the occasional wallaby.

TOY FAIR KID BAN A CROC: BINDI

Here's a bizarre idea for a toy fair - ban kids.

Bindi Irwin, 9-year-old daughter of the late Steve Irwin, the Australian "Crocodile Hunter," had hoped to unveil her Bindi doll at the New York Toy Fair yesterday.

But she turned down the offer - because she would have been the only kid allowed in the Javits Center.

Bindi's childhood isn't normal

WHEN I was nine-years-old my mum plaited my hair, I danced along with Barbie and the Rockers and was told I had to wait at least two years before I was allowed to wear denim jeans.

Now I'm grown up I can happily reflect on my childhood and report that it was fabulous - and normal.

Bindi Irwin Dolls Launched at 2008 American International Toy Fair

Terri Irwin was at Day 1 of the 2008 American International Toy Fair promoting the Bindi Irwin dolls. Perhaps all of this work helps the Irwin family cope with the terrible loss of Steve Irwin, but Bindi seems to be quite a busy kid for only being 9 years old

Twinsburg firm developing Bindi Irwin toy line

She's blonde and bubbly, but you won't find this hiking boot-wearing, wildlife-loving Aussie cruising around in a hot pink convertible.
The Bindi Irwin doll couldn't be farther from Barbie and Bratz on the toy spectrum, forgoing mini-make-up kits and fake cell phones to teach girls about saving the environment.
