My motto on this forum is Listen! Learn! Share!
And we have! Our Love and Respect for Steve and our Love of animals, are two of the many reasons we are here. Let's have a place to share our pet families with each other! I know we have stories, we have pictures, maybe even advise to share. I will start with this quote... and everything else can follow. "Until one has loved an animal.....a part of one's soul remains unawakened." This message has been edited. Last edited by: Catbus, |

What a great idea. Most of us think of our pets,as family. They may look a little different, speak a different language, and have manners that are a bit out of the ordinary, but family non the less. We tell people about the funny things they do,show them the latest photos. We tell them when we leave the house, be good I will be home soon. When we return we ask did you miss me, to which they will reply
in there own special way, that say's yes I did, and I am glad you are back, and they mean it. These funny family members have one thing that sets them apart from the rest. They give us so much, and ask very little in return. My furry loved one's are 5 Cat's John L. Sullivan/12 years old Owen James./11 years old Meow Lin/8 years old Ocyrus K.Cat/6 years old Yehti Sasquatch/3 years old Yes they have middle names 1 Female Cocktiel 25 years old and her name is B.Bird This message has been edited. What a great topic Cat...I adore my pet's, as long as they are happy, then so am I..I say goodnight to them and good morning..The best thing to come home to is a wagging tail, we could have been gone 5 hours or 5 minutes but the reaction is the same, they dance around wagging tails and barking, it's as if there saying.."yes you came back, we are so pleased to see you, now where's my dinner"...
We have 2 dogs.. Kessie..15 Honey...12 And 1 cat.. Chewie...15 They all have nicknames but thats another story.. CRIKEY CROCS RULE!! |

Let me tell you about my pet family. Currently I have Buddy and Dakota with me. Buddy is a toy chihuahua that weighs just over 4 lbs. Buddy just turned 13 years. Since he is a chihuahua.. I need not say too much more. They have a way about them... but he is sweet and loving and loves to be in your lap at night and loves to sleep close to me. He insists on drinking water out of a cup...and why not?... he sees us doing it! Buddy has a huge vocabulary... sometimes you can even spell a word and he still knows what it is! Like B A T H!!!!! He does run and hide! If he does not feel you are giving him enough attention.... well he "finds" his stash of odds and ends... and he comes to me with something hanging out of his mouth (like a piece of small paper, that he likes to shred!)and looks at me and runs the other direction... must be play time! Chihuahuas... you gotta have one to love one! But they are great...a very special bond indeed!
Now comes Dakota. Dakota is a much bigger dog about 60 lbs. Dakota is a miracle dog that walked right into our lives two years ago. We were at a Bible Study at my parents house one Sunday night, and we got out of the car, a beautiful and very friendly dog followed us up the driveway. He stayed on the porch and waited for us to come out later. He wagged his tail, and we wondered who he belonged to....he was very loving and friendly, but had no tags or ID on him. Long story short, within a weeks time, I went back to check on the dog and he was still hanging around. I place "found" ads and called area vets and shelters. No lost dog reported. By this time, I was totally convinced this dog was sent to come into our lives. I was officially taking him home and he was a part of our family! At this point, I hoped and prayed that no one would call to claim him.... still do not understand where he came from... just showed up out of no where! So, his name is Dakaota, because in the Bible Samson has a very loyal and faithful dog which was named Dakota... and I knew that our Dakota was meant to be in our lives and he would be very loyal and faithful too! The vet estimated that Dakota was 6 months old when he "found" us and now he is 2 1/2 years old!...still a baby! My Dapple and Dally are waiting for me at Rainbow Bridge... and I know I will see them again one day. They are so special and I will always hold them close in my heart. Dally (part springer spaniel) was 13 when she went to heaven, that was 2-1/2 years ago. Dapple (part border collie) was 18 years old when she wanted to go see Dally... that was just a year ago. There is still sadness for me... they were so loving....they will alwasys be so close in my heart. That gives you some idea of my pet family. I will post pictures tomorrow. Thanks for allowing me to talk about them! I do love them so much and they are truly part of our family! This message has been edited. Last edited by: Catbus, |

Thank you Catbus for setting this topic up, our pets are our family and I know I am guilty of showing more remorse for my animals than the rest of my family.

I have had tha pleasure of having wonderful pets from hamsters (40 at the final count
i also had chickens when i was growing up (my parents hated me and my brother for saying at school that we would take the chicks that we had hatched in class) and one thing it taught me was that no matter an animal lookes like it needs love My dog bran is currently sunning himself in the conservertory (when it comes out to play, yep we have rain again) with the boys sat up against him reading him a story i love my dog to bits but at times i think he's not all there. this morning he tried to climb a tree after a squiral, he's 14 now you would think he'd have learnt. here is a list of my pets from over the years Tina-whippet-x-terrier (1st dog we ever had ad sadly gone now) Toby-Golden retriever, daft as a brush and ate ice cream from your cone when you were not looking, left us 5 years ago patches-a physco rabbit, he used to beat up the neighbours cat Salt, pepper and ginger-ginipigs that would follow me and my brothers around Bubble and Sqeeck- fancy rats( mum hated them buti thought they were great) It- mum's budgie that she found in the garden and rescued Ying and yang-hamster and the start of my husbands mad idea to breed for local schools. we had 40 at one point (he wasn't very good at sexing them Fish a colection of suicidle fish that would leap out the tank if left open Big boy and muppet-2 more fancy rats i was given from a friend when she moved in with hubby ( he was petrified of them ) and last and i know we'll have more pets in years to come Bran our boxer cross who is my best friend and never makes me feel bad, just dribbles on my lap alot hope you've enjoyed this lot bright blessings blossom |

Cat I love this thread. I loved reading about everyones "gifts" I to think for some reason Dakota was sent to you.
I always grew up with dogs and cats. When I met my husband I had a lab/rottie...Sheeba. She was so good, and loved Sam when I first brought him home. Then when I was pregant our vet said we needed to get Sheeba a "friend" and thats when Sam came home and asked me if I wanted a puppy. (he's never said that since) so he had this friend who had the puppies and we went there. Sitting on a picnic table was a wolf looking dog...(a timber wolf) a German Shepard dog, and a basset hound. Then on the ground were about 5 - 6 puppies! they were all red and fluffy, their little faces were like little bear faces. They were so cute. Their momma was the timber wolf, and their daddy had been a chow. So there I am huge and trying to chase the pups so I could see which one I wanted. I was looking at a male who had a mask. When I picked him up he cried and cried, plus there was a pup trying to climb up my leg, she was so cute and our eyes locked instantly! it was truly love at first sight. However when I put the pup down, the little female ran from me but kept looking back. Just as I was about to catch her she slid into the "den" the momma had made. But she kept peaking out at me. We took her home, and the next day we took her and Sheeba in the big truck with us over the road. She didnt have a name for along time. Eventually she became known as Crystal. So this is where my love for wolves started. When we lost our Sheeba we were blessed to get our LaSabre. She was a pure Siberian, with a heart of gold. On Jan 26 of this year she lost her battle with cancer. Then we got Scout our German Shepard/timber wolf she has been the glue that has kept this pack together. About 7 years ago we got our Sapphire. He was a Siberian too. He was so full of himself...he pranced and was a wolf through and through..sadly he got bacterial menegist and he'll be gone a year in June. He was the true icon of a Siberian...black and white and red with the bluest eyes...he was blind though. And about 2 years ago I was driving home and saw Sherazodie aka Baby following some people in the park, and they were kicking her. So I stopped and chased them down. They said she wasnt theres and they were kicking her so she would go away. She had on a tight pink collar. We put up some found puppy signs, (thruthfully I didnt try to hard) and thats how we got Baby. She's Shepard, but I dont know what else. She has some wolf markings but that doesnt mean alot...alot of dogs do. We also have 3 kitties. Spooks is our old guy he's over 14 Bella Donna part Persian and Meru....the trouble maker I really miss all my creatures, but I really miss having a huskey. Yeah my house is cleaner, and the yard is growing back....but huskeys just add something to ones "pack" I have hinted to my family that for Mom's day I "need" a puppy. A Siberian or Malamute is fine. Would I ever get another hybred???? you bet. I miss Crystal the most though. I try not to have favorites, (as with my kids) but Crystal just took my heart. I have a awesome tattoo of her on my shoulder, an angel on my shoulder. |

Hello everyone. Nice to see you all or should i say speak to you all! I've recently brough some cold water fish! Well i got 5, 2 from one garden center and the other 3 from another. But sadly 3 have died, Not got names yet, one is an orange and white fish and the other is orange and black! any names? I did have a cat, he was 1 but he went missing 3 weeks ago. there was a rumour that the people who work on the farm i live on shoot him because he was on one of their chicken sheds! And they were all shifty when we asked about him. But as we have no proof of this we cant take it to the rspca, there is always alot of rat poision around so he could have aeaten a poisioned rat. I don't have much luck with pets!

bextucker I am sorry for your troubles. I just dont let our kitties outside without someone...people act crazy all the time. Maybe you could keep a kitty inside. I dont have much luck with fish either. I had a real pretty beta that was in a vase with a peace lily. But when I went to clean it I didnt get the net under it in time and sadly he went down the drain.

Hello all, I was going to reply to this post a while ago but forgot so now while I remember I would like to introduce you to my pet family. We have 5 pets in our house, 2 cats (elsie - 12 years and tiddles - 10 years), the dog (dougal -9 months) and the guinea pig (charlie - 1 year 6 months) are mine and my brother has a royal python (xale - about 1 year). The cats and dog are ind of family pets because we all play with them and my mum and dad sometimes walk the dog for me but I do things like feeding them and cleaning up after them and making sure they are healty but the guinea pig is soley(sp?) my responsability as he lives in my room and I hate people going in my room so my mum and dad just pay for things and occasionally help me bath him. Anyway thats my pet family, this is a wonderful idea for a topic. Its lovley to hear about all your pets, like Catbus said animals are one of the main reasons we are here, they become part of our families
In the words of the legend himself 'crocs rule' |
