I have submitted my vote.
My comment is as follows:

I would like to see Steve Irwin named as "Person of the year" It is long over due. His contributions to the conservation and preservation of wildlife and the environment are exceptional accomplishments. He spent most of his life unselfishly in the pursuit of repairing the damage, and spreading awareness. He worked to create the knowledge that the future of the Global Community depends on this awareness. This isn't a tribute because of his untimely death, but an honor that should be bestowed on a man who has been, "Person of the year", for a very long time. It should actually be a one time special issue called "People of the year" which would include his parents who planted the fire for his quest, his wife Terri, and the people at Australia Zoo, who have spent years sharing and working beside him for the same goal, of which we all have been benefators.

Thats a lovely message Shanon.I've voted for Steve,I hope he wins "Person Of The Year" he deserves to,it'd be nice for Terri,Bindi and Bob if Steve wins.My Comments were:

I think Steve Irwin The Crocodile Hunter should win "Person Of The Year 2006" He was a very special guy with a genuie love for animals and his family,he dedicated his life to saving wildlife and teaching people around the world "Conservation through exciting education" Steve deserves to be recognised for the great work he did for wildlife and the environment,he changed the world for the better. Also Steve was an Inspiration to us all,he taught us alot about Wildlife Conservation. It would be an honour for Steve's family if Steve wins the award because they also have dedicated their lives to saving wildlife around the world.

Winning the "Person of the Year" ... well that is not really what it is about. Yes, he deserves it and so much more! But, it is more about letting our voice be heard. Letting the world know more about Steve Irwin and his mission. I am increasingly amazed how many people are now saying that they never really knew much about him... perhaps they caught a glimpse turning the channels on the TV.....but now they want to know more. Knowledge and Awareness are steps in continuing Steve's mission. I keep hearing Steve's voice in my head.....

"Gone are the days of sitting back on the long lens on the tripod and looking at wildlife way over there. Un-uh.
Come with me. Shaaaare it with me. Share my wildlife with me. Because humans want to save things that they love. My job, my mission, the reason I've been put onto this planet is to save wildlife and I thank you for coming with me. Yeah, let's get 'em".
