Thanks Alison for sharing these links. There are some great videos too that give more information on just what people around the world are doing. I know we hear so many negative things in this world...and we know it exists...it is so heartwarming to see that people do care and are doing something to make this world a better place.

This link is to the South Carolina Aquarium and is located where I live (actually 5 minutes from where I work.) They have a great turtle resuce program and turtle hospital.

A little more info...
The South Carolina Aquarium, located in Charleston, has a wonderful Sea Turtle Program. Turtles are rescued...cared for...and released back to the ocean. Some of them are being satellite tracked to obtain further knowledge! We even have a mandatory "lights out."

"Lights out for Turtles!"
Artificial lights affect the nesting and hatching of sea turtles. Brightly lit beaches are a deterrent to nesting females and a deathtrap for hatchlings. Instead of being attracted by the natural light of the moon and starlight on the surf, hatchlings move toward the brighter beams of streetlights, porch & deck lights, floodlights, interior lights, car headlights, flashlights, etc. They fail to find their way to the ocean quickly and become the victims of ghost crabs and gulls, or die from dehydration in the morning sun. Dark beaches are critical to sea turtle survival. Help educate others about the importance of "lights out for sea turtles!"

The turtle rescue program also involves the children. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a firm believer in getting our children involved. The more they learn...the more they care...and the more they want to do! All this totals to be a better opportunity for our world to be as it should be. Children learn what they live...and they are our future.

It is great to know that even right here where I live, so much is being done to protect these turtles...everything we do matters. Together we can save our planet and all with whom we share this world. Isn't that they way it is supposed to be?

An animal rescue center in Cambodia assists victims of the black market wildlife trade. CNN's Anderson Cooper and Jeff Corwin gives us this report.
You will even see in the video that a tiger and elephant both have their say as well!

Rescue-Rehab-Release-Bat Santuary!
Lifetime sanctuary is given to non-releasable bats, including those that are orphaned, injured, confiscated from the illegal pet trade and retired from zoos and research facilities.

This is interesting!

G'day Alison! Nice to see you here! You are right! This is a lovely story!...Amos the Donkey!
"Whatever it takes,'' Bryan Nelson said as he watched his well come down. "I love animals and I'm just glad it's OK.''

His "father" sounds like such the parent....happy to see him..gave him a bubble bath..then a bit of a scolding for leaving! I would imagine a hug was included!

Isn't it wonderful that people do care?

Long story short he had 2 Westies 2 Scotties he had just lost his wife to cancer and now his house. He found homes for the Westies but was at the vet to turn the Scotties over to the vet. The Scotty people cam eot get them...they have been litter mates. Very sad..but thank goodness the Scooty pepe were there.

That is sad - I do feel sorry for the old people who have to give up their animals. At work we had an old boy who worked in our post room, he eventually retired at 80 years old. He was and is still amazing as he pops into see us from time to time- he was a prisoner of war. Just before he retired his wife died, but the one thing that kept him going was his wife's little Westie. We owe an awful lot to our animals.

My father-in-law lives for his dog, she has the best of everything..He will be 80 next year, I dread to think what will happen when she has gone...He is too old to have another puppy so we just hope his little dog lasts a few more years...She is a yorkie terrier cross, really cute...
