Groups to monitor whales in Beaufort Sea

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Endangered humpback whales swam into the Beaufort Sea off Alaska's northern coast this summer, far beyond their usual range, but federal officials monitoring the waters say it's too soon to determine whether it's a trend or an anomaly.

Lion cuties line up for crown

KNOWN as the little gangsters, these five extremely rare white lion cubs are now nine months old.

Although their parents are from Johannesburg Zoo in South Africa, the five youngsters are all Aussie born and bred. Their home is a private zoo at Mogo near Batemans Bay on the South Coast.

Councillors snub koala summit

LOGAN City Councillors have been criticised for not caring about koalas with none of the elected representative attending last weekend's Koala Summit.

The event was organised by Redland Shire Council and brought together representatives of state and local governments and other community groups.

It provided stakeholders with diverse views, knowledge and interests the opportunity to discuss the complex issues relating to the declining koala population on the Koala Coast.

Thailand saves pangolins bound for China restaurants

BANGKOK (AFP) - Thai Customs officers said Saturday they have rescued more than 100 pangolins and arrested three men attempting to smuggle the endangered animals to China, where they were destined for the cooking pot.

That is bad, they should build a big greenhouse and try and grow some of these bamboo trees back and then take them to the wild.
