G'day everyone!! Hey, it doesn't matter what age anyone is, everyone is a kid at heart!!!
Sambasmum, you enjoy that Steve doll, it sounds wonderful!!!
Crystalslove, have fun taking "saphira" to the movies!!! What are you going to go see?
I love being a kid at heart. I play in the snow, I color in coloring books, and I even watch cartoons like Jimmy Neutron with my boy!!
It keeps us young...

Hi again !

I've not been reading the forum since the beginning of November. It wasn't that I stopped caring or wanting to share things with other people who were missing / grieving for Steve. Just that in my own way I felt I needed to get a bit of space and perspective and start moving on....

I got some temporary work in late October just doing admin stuff through an agency which meant I wasn't at home so much.

Then, almost out of the blue, in mid-November I was offered a really fantastic job in archaeology on a long-term project in the ancient city of York. That really helped get me focused and positive again as I am now doing something I really love !

Just the other day, however, I was flicking through the documentary channels and came across a re-run of Steve's memorial and I watched a few minutes of that and then changed channel to watch a Croc Hunter episode. All over again those feelings of immense sadness came upon me and I decided to have another look here, to see how everyone else is doing ! So I felt like coming back here and sharing again.

I got a small inheritance last week from my god mother (who died in September) and I have decided to put it aside for my trip to Australia in 2008. I've been thinking of spending it on doing some of the extra activities available for visitors to Australia zoo (the animal encounters, a guided tour or maybe even the platinum VIP tour!).

Anyway, I hope you are all OK. Even if I don't post much you are all in my thoughts, as we all still have that connection of being so affected by this lovely man who was so passionate and caring !

Hi PamW!! Iam so glad to know you are ok!!! Everyone needs sometime away!! I was so sorry to read that you lost your god-mother.
I am excited to see you are planning your trip to the zoo!! Thats a great motivation!!
And you got an archealogical job!!! Is York in the UK? my daughter wants a carrer in the same field, and Mrs.M's niece just graduated from a uni in Cardlli in archealogy. I have asked my kid to consider other things as jobs seem hard to come by. She just rolls her eyes!!.
Anyway I am sooosssooo glad you are doing well.
Take Care! and Happy Christmas!

Hi Crystalove

Yes, York is in northern England and was founded by the Romans in AD71 and then Vikings ruled it in the 9th Century and has been a thriving city ever since ! So as you can imagine there is a lot to discover and we have a unique chance to dig a huge area due to a big re-development building project that is on going for the next 5 years.

At the moment we are digging near a river bank and have discovered well preserved 12/13th century timbers. These were part of structures built by the medieval people to manage the water front so they could use boats to get goods and people in and out of the city!

You are right that archaeology is not the best profession to be in if you want a well paid and secure job ! I am lucky that my husband has a good job so he can look after us both if I am not working !

Well Hello PamW! It is nice to see you here! We all think of you often and are happy to see you doing well, especially with a new job, and money set aside for the Australia Zoo trip! I am sure your Godmother would be pleased to see it go to something that will be an experience of a lifetime! Personally, I am envious of all that have plans in the future to go! I have a seven year old son that keeps telling me he wants to be just like Steve when he grows us..... I tell him that would be absolutely great... but he may have to stay away from the crocodiles!! He has told me he wants to go to Australia since he was three! I hope that one day we can go! I would love to share that experience with him!
Glad you were here Pam! Hope you come back again soon!

I suppose that sometimes we get what we wish for! But, on the other hand.... just like my Grandmother used to say...Be careful what you wish for... you just might get it! Well, everytime I blow out the candles on my birthday cake... I am really hoping that I get what I wished for! Hey, we are all entitled to that once a year grand wish!
