Hi there,
I need to install a baby seat (one of those ones you wrap the seatbelt around) in my car. The seatbelt in the back seat isn't long enough to go round, so I need to place it in the front passenger seat. This seat is protected by a dashboard airbag. Have you been in this situation? Is it possible to disable the airbag, maybe by simply removing a fuse, or something? Thanks OOPs, I should have made clear that the car is a 2001 Toyota Avensis. |

Most modern cars with passenger airbags have a way to disable it, but if the user manual doesn't mention it, your best bet would be to contact your nearest Toyota dealer or try THIS PLACE

Thanks Lensman,
Toyota won't touch this. They want nothing to do with disabling the airbag. I've spent some time wrestling with it since posting, and I've managed to get the seatbelt round it. Strange, given that the guy in the shop tried and told me it couldn't be done. Just one more impossible feat achieved, I guess. Thanks for the link. I hadn't heard of them before. |

There are Forums for just about all conceivable subjects, I just Googled Toyota User Groups.
