Hi
I watched Chop shop last night and i couldn't help but wonder which model of BMW the guys where butchering.

It looked like a 316/318 as the engine looked and sounded like a four pot, but they commented that the car had 200 BHP which would make it at least a 325 six pot?

It makes entertaining veiwing but how on earth will this car pass all the necessary tests to be road worthy in this country, especially in such a short time?

I guess i will just have to wait until the next episode for the answer to that question.

HI, I ACTUALLY PURCHASED THE TIGER CAR (SHOWN LATER IN THE SERIES), IT LOOKS FANTASIC, SOUNDS AMAZING AND IS A REAL EYECATCER, WHEN IT CAME IT NEEDED A FEW MODS TO MAKE IT ROADWORTHY(ONGOING)IE SEATBELTS, ENTRY METHOD, LIGHTS BUT IN GENERAL IT WAS A VERY SOLID WELL BUILT MACHINE, HOW THESE WIZARDS DO IT IN SUCH SMALL TIME IS BEYOND ME, WISH I COULD BUY MORE!!

Hi
Thanks for your reply.
i will look forward to seeing this episode in November. This email to you will probably be my only claim to fame.
I must admit that i'm surprised at your comments on how well the car is put together.
After watching all the preceding shows staring Leepu & Birnie to date and seeing the photo of your car on the web site........ Scarry stuff indeed. Wink

Hi Kevin

I was really interested to hear about your poor old 325.
Do you know what Leepu called the car so we can look out for it?
I don't know how attached you got to your car before she had to go. I would be interested to hear your point of view after watching its transformation on the TV.
Perhaps the new owner may even visit this forum and may like to comment.

Hi
Thanks for the invite even after my critical remarks. I am truly humbled.

I doubt that I will ever get up to see you because of the distance but it would be great to hear how you get on with completing the car and finally getting it on the road.

It would be interesting to hear from both the owners of the original cars and the purchasers of the transformed cars to get more of a before and after perspective.

Hi Kevin
I am sorry to hear that your 325 died, I know how attached I am to mine.

I must admit that I thought that the fire in the Sumo car was staged and it was going to rise from the ashes, but from what you say the guys have created Sumo 2 which I assume is its replacement.

Some before photos would be interesting to see if they compare with the car when it appears on the show.

I wonder if Birnie or Leepo visit this site?

Could they be encouraged to make any comments?

Hi Kevin
Thanks for the offer. It would be really unwise to post my email address on line. Too many freaks out there.
I have had a look a the private message facility and the “help” section for uploading photos but it looks like an administrator issue.

Did you get another Bimmer to replace your poor old 325?

Do any forum members know if it is possible to send private messages or post photos on this site without too much trouble?

To be honest i own whats been voted as 5 time best civic coupe in the UK.
I personally think that Chop Shop is a disgrace. Leepu is an absolute butcher and hasnt got a feckin clue what he's doing and how in hell can they DA, fill, rub prime and prep a car in a day?? not a prayer.
They supposidly paint a car and take it to a show the same day, RUBBISH the paint wouldnt of cured properly for a start.
The paint-shop seem good but the rest is a joke.

The spacers would make the car unsafe aswell i dont care what anyone says. You dont see spacers that are 8 bloody inches come from ferrari factories do you?
I honestly feel sorry for people who DO actually buy these cars as im sure many others would agree i'd spend my money wisely and buy a japanese car, not a butchered Jag or BMW thats been built by a crazy fat indian. I think bernie is the only person with brains on that programme.

Overhaulin' is a proper programme, decent jobs aswell.A proper team with decent equipment and knowledge.

Im not here to offend anyone so sorry if i have i just think that this programme is a disgrace to the UK Motor Trade and all good bodyshop ownsers like myself and friends sit and cringe and howl at the tv every monday night.

Ive just watched the fiesta episode...........
didnt seam-weld the engine bay
could of used a 1.8 zvh much easier and quicker
didnt strengthen the roof that he butchered
looked a mess
spacers and camber was a disgrace
...........the list goes on.

Sadly I have to agree with you.
There is an awful lot that does not make sense or ring true with this program and I have stopped watching it as I now find it more annoying than entertaining.
Also is the incessant swearing necessary?
I have worked in the construction industry for the last 25 years so I’m no stranger to a bit of Anglo Saxon lingo but the language on this program is just punctuated with swearing!
Like yourself, I have no wish to alienate or offend Chop Shop fans but come on producers, do you really expect the viewing public to believe some of the stories you are telling?
