Has anyone else seen this on the news?

"British beaches have been put on shark alert after a holidaymaker spotted what experts say may have been a Great White 200 yards off the coast of Cornwall."

It's a fact that the number of shark sightings off the British coast has increased as waters become warmer.

Should we be celebrating this increase in marine life? Or should our British Beaches remain safe to swim at? What do you think?

Yep, climate change (not global warming) but something is definetley happening which is warming up the waters, were also able to start growing vineyards in the south so i would'nt be suprised if a great white dose'nt want to come visit our green and plesent land (WHEN ITS NOT RAINING Cool lol)

I can say without a doubt that there are no great whites off the coast of Cornwall, or for that fact anywhere in the British Isles.
Now The media(The Sun) has paid particular attention to a great white being there, and as all media go about subjugating a man eater with such negative press(instead of positive) and giving these animals even more of a bad rap just to sell papers.
For one it was a hoax and it was admitted that the video was taken in South Africa and secondly all other video footage was of the common basking sharks that are seen in these waters this time of year.

I for one would be overjoyed if there was a great white seen in British waters, for the population is not that great, and having first hand of spending time with them up very close, they should not be feared but obviously caution, but most of all respected!

Cool

I forgot to mention.......

Don't believe what you read in the tabloids.

Some of the experts are not even experts, and the ones that were, were taken out of context(a usual trick of a journalist).

do you really think global warming is the cause of shark sightings in Cornwall?? It could be industrialisation within the waters, it could be hunters, it could be a host of other things... heheh the global warming issue has become like witchcraft back in the day.. you can blame anything on it - -Fishfool @ The Reef Tank
