Despite my forum name I am a woodworker/DIY person. Now I'm sure it is sacrilege but just how does fishing fit in with 'shed' - last time I checked in my workshop there were no piscine inhabitants within or nearby.

I regularly complete questionnaires for Discovery channel and recently was asked about a proposed new shed workshop channel which promised sheddy/workshoppy type progs, but all we seem to have is Realtime Extra with a new name - same old programmes just a new name.

I am disappointed!

I sympathize with your problem but may I suggest that you take up angling as no doubt you have all the equipment at hand. drain RODS, the odd extension REEL, a plumb LINE, a number of cement FLOATS,and some small picture HOOKS. Bait may be a problem but is there any CHEESE in the mouse traps. FISHING in the water-butt also saves on an environment license.
Happy angling

You could also use your shed as a Bivvy

I've got to agree with misterfish. I was looking forward to watching some really interesting 'sheddy' programmes when SHED started but there's more fish than you can shake a hook at. Now i'm not adverse to the odd fishing programme but give us a break. Come on SHED give us what we want, not just a couple of Le Salvager but more Norm and those other couple of other woodworkers, Smithson and Son?? The other thing is you can't sky + any of the programmes because the schedule doesn't stretch beyond 12 hours. What's going on!!!! Here endeth my first rant.

I too am dissapointed. The mount of fishing on Discovery Reel Time was making it not worth even bothering to check the channel. I thought that the creation of 'Shed' might improve things and we might even get some new workshop programmes. How wrong can you be as it looks lie the whole of the Easter period on Shed is filled with fishing programmes. Mad

I'm glad I'm not alone with my disappointment.

Like many others I have found Norm Abram and the New Yankee Workshop and inspiration and have been saddened (to put it mildly) that we have only had endless repeats of series 17 shown at odd times. Come on 'Shed' - show us series 18 - 20 and repeat the first 16 series. The New Yankee Workshop is one of the best training type shows that gives practical instruction as well as inspiration.

The other thing that is annoying is that This Old House is always listed as being with Norm and Steve. Steve left years ago and the episode we are shown are with Norm and Kevin.

So come on Discovery - give us 'workshoppy' shed people what we want - we do pay for the service.

I too have been extremely disapointed with `shed`. I grew up watching TLC, Home and Leisure where we were treated to as previously stated steve and norm, new yankee workshop and other gems such as hometime with dean and robin. Can I just state I hate fishing and have looked through 16hrs of todays shcedule only to find 13hrs are dedicated to FISHING......

I pointed out to Discovery when I was a User Panel member, that RealTime Extra was becoming a predominately fishing channel and in all reality, they'd be as well to call it Discovery Fish, or Discovery Angle.

All we've got now is more and more fishing, many thousands of disgruntled and alienated ex Real Time Extra watchers and a channel that's watched by fewer people than than ceebeebies!

I still don't understand the need to have fishing on both RealTime and Shed, on weekend mornings. Few people can watch more than one programme at a time, surely we DIY'ers deserve at least one of these channels to change it's tired format?

It's complete nonsense programming and I for one have only spent about an hour watching Shed, since it started. That was a Tommy Walsh repeat as well! where's the new content you promised, Discovery?
