This boat is built for speed racing, not for sailing around frozen water. It is like racing a safari race on F1. Nobody who is sane would chance another ship on this boat in Antarctica.

They are doing strengthening job to the hull of the boat, but F1 can never be converted to a 4WD.

SS didn't buy this boat. Its owner, Pete Bethune from NZ, is another guy like Watson, who is purely in love with himself.

Apparently, this boat runs on biodiesel, claiming to be carbon neutral. Part of the biodiesel fuel comes from Bethune's berry, sucked out by liposuction.

beer fuel

It is wrong to say that this boat is carbon neutral, however. Biodiesel needs a lot of fuel to produce. Bethune's berry could well be year's of eating cheese burgers, made of beef, which had produced tons of gas to produce. Plant based biodiesel also needs fuel to produce, since it is dependent on farming.

So, if they honestly wished to help the environment, they should stay home, instead of showing to the world that they are in love with themselves.

I also noticed that LaCie is a sponsor of digital storage devices for this boat.

I will never buy LaCie products, ever again.
Western Digital makes better products anyway.

Actually it's neither. It's designed to go through waves not ride over them like the Steve Irwin or Nishin Maru. The hull strengthening consists of five layers of Kevlar added to the hull to prevent ice damage to the hull.

True.

Opinion only. No basis in fact. He was in love with circumnavigating the planet in record time and now he is in love with the idea of intervening in the illegal whaling efforts on the part of the Japanese.

Three crew contributed and the amount they gathered was enough fuel to go 15 km.

At times on the record run they did use regular diesel but for the most part it was bio-diesel.

Good choice. All my drives (both internal and external) are Western Digital
