I don't know if everyone on this forum knows about this whale. The whale is named Migaloo and is a male Humpback whale....the only pure white one known to exist.
The whale: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3JSaMgayBY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYIU7ZCp4wQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGgod9AqHMs&NR http://www.migaloowhale.org/ The audio used in this vid is from that whale: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grRuw1cE9LU And I saw an article about how Japan might kill this rare whale: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/ear...nly-white-whale.html Luckily Japan was prevented from beginning to kill Humpback whales again but I really wonder how long they'll be prevented from doing so. If they do ever start to kill them again, do you think the Japanese would spare this extremely rare and popular whale? They would probably get into a ton of problems if they were to kill this famous and extremely rare whale. I seriously hope they would be smart enough to leave that whale alone even if they did start killing Humpbacks again(which i hope they don't). If someone harpoons that whale it would be a really stupid move. |

So in your humble opinion, you are much smarter than "the Japanese"? |

I'm not saying that. -_- I just can't see how it would be smart to kill that whale so I really hope they don't. That whale probably makes more money off people going to look at it than it would dead. Not to mention the Japanese would get in WAY more crap if they kill that whale. It just wouldn't be worth it to them in my opinion. So I hope they leave it alone. It would be in their best interest to leave it be to tell you the truth. Signature: How can anyone kill this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9v_GqGTwAiM I'm 25, female, from Toronto. So save Whitey?
Why is this whale more important than any other whale? Just because it's white? |

Hold on, you are blaming "the Japanese (whoever they are)" for something that they didn't do, and they are hoped to be smart enough not to do it? So, I could, for instance, blame you for some stupid things you would not do, and say "I hope you are smart enough no to do it" Isn't that name-calling? Who are "the Japanese" anyway, and who are you? I don't care at all about your fav song, I am just asking what kind of person you are. |

So you don't see anything special about the only pure white Humpback whale that has ever existed?
If you noticed, I posted an article that was about people being afraid that Japan will kill that whale if they start killing Humpback whales again. And they probably have reason to be worried about it. I just don't think it would be doing Japan any favours if they kill that whale. Also you're talking as if I'm racist but I'm totally not. I like a lot of Japanese people. |

There are a lot of things people don't see that do exist. But my question is, Why is it's color such a big deal? There are all kinds of mammals that occasionally are born albino. They aren't any more special than any other mammal. Humans are also born albino. A friend of mine is albino, so what? He isn't valued more than me or you. I just don't see the big deal about it. |

Actually when I first saw your post about this very rare male white whale I thought you meant Paul Watson.

so you just added "smart enough" bit to insult "the Japanese." I see. |

No being albino doesn't make someone 'better' than anyone else....it does, however, make you rarer. So the whale is indeed RARE and as far as anyone knows, it is the only one. And that whale makes lot of money from whale watching because it is a very rare colour compared to the other whales and the famous fictional whale, Moby Dick, was an all white whale.
Eh, I didn't mean for it to come off like that if that's how you see it. I just think it wouldn't be that smart if anyone kills that whale(anyone). The whale is widely loved around the world. I just think it would be a bad move for anyone to kill it. That's all I'm saying. And I don't know if they'd kill it or not. I'm just saying that if anyone kills it I don't think it'd be the best move. Of course if they kill it out in the middle of the ocean where no one can see it, I guess no one will know because even if no one sees the whale ever again, they might think it just died of natural causes somewhere. So I guess it wouldn't actually be dumb to kill it.....only if people know you killed it would it be bad. The whale is very famous, that's why. Seriously though I have nothing against Japanese people. I have flirted with some Japanese guys before. I seriously have nothing against Japanese people. XD I just don't like the killing of whales. I wouldn't even be violent against these people. |

Well in that case they shouldn't kill it should they? |

I guess we'll see if anyone kills it or not..
I don't see the extra value myself, but who am I? |

at the first contact they have with one of the whaling ships they should fire some sort of transmitter that will stick to the hull of the ship. they will then be able to track it wherever it goes. the ship would have to stop in order to get the transmitter off disrupting its ability to track whales.
maybe even make the tramsmitter send out a sinal that will make the whales move away from it if it is possible. |
