Can a person really die from laughing too hard? Or being tickled to the point that they cant breathe and pass out?

Sorry Brandon, but when we faint from lack of oxygen, we start breathing again, which is why we can't kill ourselves by holding our breath
Something else might kill them e.g. a heart attack, but not lack of breathe |

the possibility of a hernia exists from too much strain on the old gut, but not sure if it would be fatal!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hernia don't look to far down the page though, you may find the Inguinal hernia! nice... It's Logic Jim But Not As We Know It... |

I've heard of people who piss or dislocate their jaws when they laugh too hard. But passing out and die? Erm. I'm not quite sure abt that.

A bit of a batman reference huh?
I would think that this would be possible after all laughter is a full body reaction, it tenses nearly all the muscles and releases a great deal of oxygen much like running or physical activity. I suppose one could therefore become over exert themselves through laughter just like any other activity. But to induce a laugh of that magnitude would seem unlikely, even super-human. |
