i am a great fan of the mythbusters and i am from gernamy , so i am sorry for my bad english ;-)

I have seen, that the mythbusters always test many myths with guns. So here is a next one:
Can a sword cut a bullet?
The question is, if a sword or a knife can do this with a very fast bullet for examplet a .45 magnum.

Very slow bullets can cut with a knife or just with something metal. I have seen this very often, because i shoot very often at championships and there you hit sometimes the metal that holdes the target.
I could made a video from this and then i will post the link here.

a bullet, irrelevent of its speed (as far as im aware) can be cut, fragmented, or variously knackerized when striking hard surfaces.

Actually hitting a travelling bullet on demand is the problem. Adam and Jamie had enough trouble hitting a baseball with a bat designed for the job.

striking a moving bullet is the hard part, but i belive that the element up for discussion is whether or not a bullet can be fragmented or split in contact with a solid object.

I think that is is not a problem to hit the bullet because with modern weapons you can shoot at the same point.

A bullet from a normal air gun with 150 m/s (450 feet/sec) can be cutted by a normal blade or even a piece of metal.

If Adam and Jamie has a new weapon special, then it would be cool, when they test this.

did you not see the trouble they had trying to do that with the bullet ending up in the chamber of another gun?

and air guns dont fire bullets, they fire pellets.

Miki, Flachzange's English is better than my German, and very understandable. It is also better than that of many contributors whose first language is nominally English.

On our shootingrange, we have weapons, like a .45 magnum, and with them you can shoot through the same hole in 25m (i think 75 feet).

And in germany we say to the ammo of air guns "Diabolos", but i didnt know the english meaning!
