Is it possible to stop or deflect a bullet away from you using a magnetic field

i guess it depends on the magnetic field and that the bullet was made of.
any magnet field would affect the right type of bullet but not enough to deflect it |

not deflect that much i mean enough to stop it hitting you maybe the mythbusters can try it with different ranges and different bullets and guns

I can see two problems with this - 1) the bullet contains a significant amount of energy - for the magnetic field to repel it, it too must be able to generate an equivalent and opposite force, on to a very small target - the maths is mind-boggling and beyond me, but your field generator would have to be connected directly to the National Grid to have enough power! 2) Bullets are generally made of lead, or, to be precise, lead alloys, and are largely impervious to magnetism.
