Ha ha! Not just Flying Felix! Me too!

I can't see that the potato would work. A silencer works by adding chambers and baffles that allow the gas to expand before it leaves the barrel. Lower pressure means lower noise.
What will a potato do? Explode when the bullet passes through and be mostly out the way when the gas hits? How will that help?

I am sure Flying Felix knows what it is!
I am not a stickler for spelling, but I think we should try to make the things we say as clear as possible, to as many people as possible. Text talk started as a means of saving characters, but now people are starting to use it when there's no need. I agree with Felix that using TT all the time is a really bad habit to get into. It’s like speaking with a broad accent when you don’t need to. Imagine the poor people who spent ages learning English, only to find that no one uses it! Instead we use some strange deformed sub-set of the language!!
Anyway, chrissy991, sorry, don’t mean to get at you!!!!

Feel free to use as much txt talk as u lik.
Just remember that when you are trying to convince a prospective employer that you will be able to understand his instructions, and therefore be a useful employee rather than a liability, someone else wil probably get the job. And the pay.
Can't see a spud silencing a gun. Spud guns were never that quiet, and they didn't have an explosive charge to drive them.
Maybe a squash? It probably wouldn't work, but it might be good, messy, TV.

try using the "find button" this subject has already seen much discussion.

the subject of "txt tlk" or "gibberish" has also been discussed.

try to remember that we are discussing scientific principals here, and that clarity is very helpful, not to mention, vowels are there for a reason.

chrissy, you appear to be able to recognise when people are addressing you.

Are you using txt talk or is it that you just can't spell?

do you perhaps mean "thier" best students?

that, my friend is a primary school level blunder.

typing coherently is not a pain, it takes maybe an extra half a second per word, and makes everything much easyer for everyone else.

show some consideration for those of us who can read.

Chrissy,

What you have to remember is that this is an international site, of which there are a lot of people who visit it who’s first language is not English. Not to mention old farts like me. You have to write things than can be easily read by others clearly and without any confusion. The occasional typing and spelling error is no problem (just look at some of my posts) but people have to be able to understand what you mean. I am also the first person to admit that one of the hardest things to do is to proof read your own work.

It may be quicker and make sense to you, but generally using Text Speak in non SMS communications is considered ignorant.

Do you talk like this, or do you occasionally pause for breath? I got winded just reading the bloody thing - also I see you just can't get away from the bloody txt talk, can you?

I know for a fact that a silencer can be made from a soda bottle(plastic) with tissues stuffe in it. Tried it with a .22 when I was much younger. As for a potato, never heard of that one. A pillow is a more common method. Best silencer, a knife...lol. Joking btw.
