As a pet owner i have heard my fair share of pet myths so here we go.

1.) Dogs will come back to the owner even if they are untrained if the owner lays on the floor.

2.) Cats are scared to walk on aluminium foil

The dog one probably makes sense, only if the dog has been owned for a certain period. It'd probably be because the dog thinks their owner is ill, and of course goes to check they are okay.

If it was a dog you've only owned for an hour though, I'd like to see. If it still occurs, then maybe theres more to it.

The dog thing is probably true in most cases. I imagine it's not that they're all that concerned about you, but more likely that they assume you're lying down as you detect danger or something like that? Dogs are very instinctual creatures and probably read such cues completely different from a person.

The cat thing? I've never heard about that. I know cats are often pretty hostile to their own reflection in a mirror, perhaps the foil's reflective surface keeps them at bay or perhaps they confuse the reflective surface for water?
Maybe they could test this with other materials such as a mirror on the floor?
