A man was sitting is his living room, the fire was on.There was a buildup of CO2 gas and this exploded, badly burning the man. Is this possible, please could someone tell me?

I'm not sure the gas in question is CO2 - the chemistry of burning woods isn't exactly a forte of mine - but my mum & dad used to have a log fire and if they used logs which had not been "aired" properly, they had little pockets of sap in them which expand with the heat, causing the logs to "explode." Dad used to have one of those mesh fireguards, but he forgot it once and after a log "popped", we found shortly afterwards that the carpet in front of the fire was alight! I don't know if this is similar to what you're describing #1Fan, but if it is - then, yes, it's possible!
