I have to agree with the beer vs spirits results, experience tells me that its true.
Possible factors - on beer alone you urinate far more because of the volume - does that also encourage dehydration? i.e because of the volume your body doesnt have the time to absorb the liquid? On spirits you dont urinate as much therefore your body has more time to metabolise the liquid and hydrate. Im guessing here and have no doubt the clever bods amongst you will yay or nay me

I had never heard the beer and spirits myth, the one I have heard many times is never mix grape and grain, i.e. beer and wine, not beer and spirits. So a beer only test Vs a beer and wine test would, I think, show different results. Even more detail would be beer only Vs beer and white wine Vs beer and red wine. My guess would be beer and red wine is going to be the killer due to the tannins, oh, and personal experience again...

I know they were given a few days rest between tests, but in my own personal experience, I find that over a weekend/week of drinking, the hangover becomes less and less severe. I assume the body learns to deal with it a little better each time. They may have developed a better tolerance to the second test. They should've done the experiment in a different order for each of them or a much longer period between experiments.

The reason I stick to beer isn't because I've given any forethought to the hangover to come, but because I find I won't drink as much. If I'm given rounds of spirits, they tend to go down quicker and I would probably take in more units of alcohol with a spirits only night.

Anyway, I wasn't happy with the testing and think it needs a bigger test group and different orders as well as different types of drinks.
