I've been a fan of the Mythbusters for ages but one thing annoys me..... I know we in the UK are supposed to be European but please, please, PLEASE can the pillock who decided to voiceover everything that was originally in MPH, Miles, feet etc. to Kilometers, grams, meters etc resign?!! Mad
In the UK we still drive in MPH, measure in miles instead of kilometers and use pounds as well as grammes and kilos. Have they any idea at all how annoying it is to try and picture kilometers, KPH etc, especially when there's some annoying prat talking over it all who is obviously British and should understand the predicament.
PLEASE ....... lose the voiceover, we don't need it. Keep it for the French or Germans etc but lose it for the UK market please!!!! Confused

Skipper !!

Try to understand, that the most of the world drives in the right side of the road.

They uses kilograms and meters too Smiler

It is big downtime, when you are watching english tv shows, and you really like them. I really like topgear, and I know what a MPH is - But why can`t them people on that little island not adapt like the rest of the world ?

You can`t allow yourself to scold the Germans or the french ! When you point a finger towards people, remember that three fingers points back on you !

The rest of the world are pis... with MPH, gallons and inches mate Smiler

Have a nice day.

It’s all about compromise:

We will fully adopt the metric system, do away with miles etc and drive on the right.

The rest of the world WILL speak English!

Now you can’t say that’s not fair.

I personaly find the UK narrator witty and charming to the last, when Adam kicks off in good old American fashion its that sensible British tone that brings the show back down to earth.

Try watching the show with the cheesy voiced American "prat" and you'll be home sick for the brit.

I totally agree. I'm glad that here in the Netherlands they use the English versions. Even though I don't think the narration script differs that much between US and UK versions, it sounds so much better.

We also get dutch subtitles, and sometimes they translate the units to metric. They also make stupid mistakes sometimes. On the penny drop episode Adam mentioned he shot the penny at a third of the speed of sound, but the subtitles said it was a third of the speed of light...

I have received a lot of critiscism for my views which I find to be totally unfair, in places, downright rude, (and no I'm not whingeing)
I agree that many people prefer the British voiceover on Mythbusters. My point is that too many people automatically assume that the "stuck up" Brits are unwilling to adapt.... we are not unwilling. My opinion is on the enforced conversion to metric. We do use kilos, grammes etc but this is alongside our imperial measurements. There is a word that I have found to be used very little in many countries, especially the good ol' USA ... that word is COMPROMISE. We are willing to do so but all of our vehicles are set up to use MPH, the national road system is geared to miles, the whole system would take an enormous amount of money to change and would cause mass confusion (Some of it dangerous) for a very long time.
The voiceover is added after it gets to the UK for broadcast so why not just leave it off? Even better, leave the voiceover if necessary but leave our measurements as they are so as to avoid frustration. That word again, COMPROMISE.
By the way, should anyone be interested, look up on the web and see how many countries drive on the left compared to the right. It is not "most of the world drives on the right" as many people think. It's actually not far away from 50/50, the actual figures are 44% (L) to 56% (R). Not what I would call 'most' at all.
Never assume that you are right, you only make an ASS out of U and ME.

You're not on your own by any degree, Skipper.

Almost anyone I talk to in relation to this finds it irritating.

Especially the pompous way they use a Brit to "talk all metric" to us like that's what we want.

Even young kids don't use kph in the UK so I have no idea why these people do this - unless it's purely political.

Ours (yours, mine, every UK dweller) is a voice that will be ignored by a tiny minority of "we know better" busybodies though.

So expect this, and the ridiculous "flying at x thousand metres" in 'aircrash investigates' to continue for now. There's no money lost in simply irritating everyone!

It's best to see it as a farce though - and an identifier to how far removed television execs are from the people they broadcast to.

In Britain, does that voice actually talk OVER Jamie and Adams voices? If so, then I totally agree that would suck.
Then again, could you actually learn something by re-calculating metric to mph, miles etc?
