Can you save power in your home when a laptop is not in use, go on standby and run on it's battery? When you use the laptop, you can plug it in the mains again and let it charge.

Does this save more energy than when you leave it plugged in the mains?

I don't know if anyone will show any interest. Still, just a thought.

I don't know about saving energy over all but leaving a laptop plugged in constantly can reduce the life of the battery. Running the charge down and then recharging is better for the battery life too, so in the long run I guess it's better to let it run on battery when on standby.
