Perhaps, the Californication of the Porsche was decidedly ugly, but the crack "you know what Americans are like" went up my wazoo like a rocket.

This from the genius nation that gave the world the Morris Minor, the Triumph Herald Coupe, the TR7, the Anglia...need I go on?

So, watch it.

Why would the phrase "You know what Americans are like" upset you? The phrase has no negative connotation, except for the one that you choose to attach. Unless, of course, you are the American stereo type ,a brash, loud ,overweight, tasteless, right wing Christian in brightly coloured checked golfing “pants” ,then I can see why that turn of phrase could upset, otherwise why would you take offence?

All right lads, we're all fans of the same show, no need for any of this! I thought it was an unfortunate remark at the time but all that was meant by it was different countries have different tastes. Having said that, there are probably as many car enthusiasts in both countries who think lexus lights are cool as there are who think they are awful.

The funny thing about the over-riders on the 911 though was that it was nothing about taste. The car was mandated by US vehicle regulations to have those bumpers fitted to be road legal!

Your right Ian lets call an end to hostilities, I wouldn`t want to get involved in a pointless drawn out war that neither side can win,"you know what Americans are like"

Nothing wrong with any of the cars above. The Morris Minor is a great car as is the Herald. The TR7 is near to greatness but let down by not putting 16v sprint engine in and a limited chassis...still an entertaining car to own. The Anglia was basically a decent car just out of date.......anyway this was built by a yank firm anyway

Here we go again Roll Eyes
I'm actually quite proud of this genius nation who gave the world steam power, the radio, the TV,the light bulb, the telephone, tarmacadam, the rubber tyre, the Aston Martin, the Rolls Royce, the Bentley, the first tank, antibiotics, the first ocean going steam ships, industrial scale coke smelting, disc brakes, the tin can, cats eyes, radar, cordite, the electric motor, the jet engine, the power loom, hydro-electric technology, the umbrella, toilet paper, the universal joint, the vacuum cleaner (sorry..it wasnt J. Edgar Hoover either)
Need one go on? This is a tiny portion of an endless list from "USS Britain".
You lot did build a big rocket though...by capturing a former 3rd Reich chap to sort it out for you though..seems you could not figure out the basic essence of gyroscopes!
All credit to the USA for the Corvette,Cobra, GTO,Nylon(New York /London!)...maybe McDonalds & Motown LOL. Cannot think of much else I'm afraid.
Ohh..the blue screen of death AKA Windows Eeker
Now,where would the "Good ol boys" be without this Lil'ol nation? Mm? Ya' all have a nice day now and eat your grits (Scottish),have another burger(German)

Hmmmm, hasn't every auto manufacturer regardless of nationality produced a product less than desirable? As an American I can honestly say that we have produced some truly terrible cars. However, I think just about everyone else has as well. Also, just so you know....not EVERY American is an arrogant hillbilly.

Hi everyone I'm new here, I didn't realise the show had a website lol its nice to see everybody on both sides of the atlantic getting along so well Wink

I dont think Mike Brewer intended any insult by saying it, I think he just meant Americans overload on health and safety a bit and put it before style.

Americans are generally very patriotic and anything they persieve to be "dissing" America or anything made in America will generally go down like a lead balloon.

I think somebody should call a truce (peace and love guys lol) after all America has done far worse to the UK, like the movie the patriot, where apparently the English were a bunch of murderous nazis who liked to burn women and children for fun.
