can anyone help me? apart from the fact my beloved car is french it has begun to whine from the gearbox. the car is an 03 plate and has only done 60,000 miles is this a common problem and can anyone tell me what it could be

Hi
Check the level of gear oil and top up if needed!! have you noticed any oil leaking underneath? leave it parked over night and check in the morning. If the level is down then maybe you have a driveshaft seal out whch will want sorting before it causes the gear box to fail. as for isolating the fault, the more common issue in my experiance is shaft bearings inside the g/box!! If its a high pitch whine ( like the one a touring car makes with a racing gearbox) then it could be the problem. |

thanks for your reply, i have already checked for leaks and found there was none. i changed the gearbox oil anyway but the problem still persists. think it must be the shaft bearings. thanks for your help, very much apreciated cheers
