This is the best reality show on TV! It's exciting, suspenseful, humorous and tear jerking. The cliffhangers keep you coming back for more. I look forward to the safe return of Shakespear on Sept.4th.
Will season 1 be available on DVD? I would love to educate my students on these amazing animals!

I can't wait for the show to start. It's better than watching the soaps. Real life family events that happen. I want to know what happens to Tousca. I like her she has no area of doing what she wants. I wonder what happens to Shakespeare in this season. My guess is that he defeats the dominant male of the other Meerkat clan and becomes the leader. I hope that is what happens

But then he would be against our favoutite clan.
Perhaps if the 2 clans joined up together as one and fight and rid the desert of the Commandoes who look horrible.

We have not had him back here yet in the UK.
I wonder when it wil be.

We have had Episode 13 here in the UK and Mozarts pups got killed by the Commando's after Flower an her nweest itter had moved the family one day leaving Mozart giving birth.
It seems the end of the series but where is Shakespeare?

Is there a Series 4?

There is a new series for next season being made now. Yeah!!! I'm so happy. I just wish they would help pups like blossum who were helpless. Fliming her close-ups and leading you on to believe she might be saved were wrong.

Turn the camera off and return her to her family. I understand when pups get killed by other meerkats...but to leave her like a sitting duck is just wrong!

I wish they had rescued Blossum also. She was so cute going out on her little adventure and if the camera was following her that closely they obviously had the the prior knowledge to help her out. I know that they are not suppose to interfere with their lives, but putting a radio collar on Flower is interfering & they have shown the students petting them a little when they weigh them so how could they not save that little baby?
I wish they wouldn't show that kind of stuff. I know it happens but I get so attached to these guys that I end up crying it seems during every episode this season.
The first season didn't have as much death and I hope the 3rd season will have much less death also. But I can't stop watching, I just love those little critters and that show!

I do have a question though, has anyone else noticed that they keep referring to Mitch as the grandson? Unless I missed something along the way, Mitch is Flowers pup from the litter after the Royal litter so I don't understand that one. Can't wait for Season 3 though. I'm still hoping that a miracle will bring us back the truly amazing Shakespeare. Big Grin

Hi, I'm a new member. Luv Meerkat Manor. I was saddened by Blossom's apparent death. I understand the crew pretty much follows Star Trek's Prime Directive regarding interference, but it was hard watching that hawk zoom off with Blossom.

My favorite Meerkat is Youssarian, Zaphod's "troubled" brother. Guess he was "dropped on his head" by a hawk? Hey, that makes Youssarian a survivor. Though he tends to go MIA looking for luv, he should not be left to babysit.

I love your Star Trek analogy Jim and welcome to the Manor! Yes, I like poor old Youssarian too. It's not his fault he is playing with a scrambled deck! Flower simply must stop letting him babysit though for everyones sake. My favorite has always been the mighty Shakespeare and I still hold out hope after all this time that he is OK and will return one day, which makes me as deft as Youssarian I'm afraid, but hope is good. I can't wait for next season to start already and here in the US season 2 hasn't even ended yet! Eeker

Sorry about that jm! The final episodes of the season are on today 11/10. They repeat them again on Saturday though at 8-9am and 11-noon those are pacific times so they may be on a few hours earlier for you since you are, I see, in NY. Strange how we US viewers use the British site not the US one. Hope you saw tonights eps. if not try and catch them tomorrow. Next Friday they start the second season over again so you can catch up but you really should see the first season. It has Shakespeare in it and he really is one cool meerkat! Smiler

Yeah, I saw both episodes last night. Lot of sadness out there in the Kalahari. Mozart's pups killed viciously by the Commandos. A cliffhanger ending, too.

Can't wait for the reruns as I am a newcomer to this show. One of my favorite scenes of all was when the Whiskers surrounded the orange king cobra. Their rhythmic leaning-in at the cobra to signify that they see it was something. The way they all jump in unsion. Just like my own cats.

Yes, they are pretty cool critters! You do really need to see season 1 if you can. It is coming out on DVD at the end of the month so you may be able to rent it. I of course have already bought it. I have come to hate the Commandos though. Hannibal even looks evil with that one eye. Have you noticed that the female is in charge of the other gangs except in the Commandos? My cats seem to like watching the show but I think it is more of their movements and noises they make, not the entertainment value. They are not that smart I'm afraid. Wink

only one of my cats likes the program-she sits on my lap the whole time the program is on-we make sure we are home every friday night to watch it. i wish we knew what happened to shakespeare. with all the cameras they should have found him. showing the killing of the 2-3 day old babies on the last episode was upsetting and blossom being carried away by her killer was too. i fear for my pets with the wildlife around here-i had one cat done in by an owl and it wasn't pleasant.

I'm sorry to hear about your cat Bonnie. We have new neighbors here with kids and dogs and I just adopted my Aunts cats when she passed away so I won't let them go out here and they are not happy with my decision! We are moving soon though and I promised them that we would find a place where they could go out where it was safe but then there is always nature to deal with. Nature for sure, can be cruel. I wish they didn't have to show it on the Manor but I guess since it is suppose to be a documentary we will have to put up with it but I liked the first season where we didn't have to see so much of natures cruelty. I am still stupidly holding out hope for Shakespeare, hoping he wandered off and hooked up with some gal kat and started his own gang. I figure he was just fed up with the immaturity of his own family and moved on. I know how stupid that sounds but it is a nice ending for him at least. I can't wait for season 3 to start. Hopefully there will be less death and Mozart will learn to keep her little legs crossed!
